Sci-fi Mix

I don't usually blog here, but this is my sci-fi outlet, and I just have many sci-fi things on which to comment.  First, I really wish I could be in Atlanta this weekend.  Dragon-Con always looks like it has good guests, but they are above and beyond for me this year with all my favorite shows (Star Trek Voyager, STNG, BSG, Stagate-SG-1, Stargate-Atlantis, Whedonverse shows, and The Guild).  And of course, my sci-fi crushes are ALL in attendance.  Whoa is me that I cannot attend.  Oh well, maybe the planets will align another time when I am not 35 weeks pregnant :)

Thanks to the wonderful Hulu though, I have finally finished the last season of Stargate-Atlantis.  Read more... )</div>

Disappointed Sci-fi girl

Ok, so despite the hugeness of Dragon Con (I've heard it is soooo overwhelming that sometimes its disappointing), I really want to go.  Unfortunately, I will be 36 weeks(9 months) pregnant during the event and travel to Atlanta would not be allowed. Of course, all my favorite sci-fi shows are being represented: Stargate Atlantis, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Dr. Horrible/The Guild, and the top - Star Trek Voyager.  But, the reason this is uber depressing is that the men I have had the biggest sci-fi girl crushes on will be there as well: Robbie McNeill and Paul McGillion.  Now granted, I learned with Aaron Douglas that sometimes meeting/knowing too much about the real-life person you have a fan-crush on can destroy the crush, but I would still have loved to meet them.  Not that they would be that impressed by a heavily pregnant woman swooning over them, but hey, that might make them more informal and off-guard with me, you never know.  Oh well, guess I'll just have to keep on dreaming.  If any of my "firends" out there are going, snag a sexy shot of my crushes for me will you and post them?

Phoenix Comicon

I am back from Phoenix and I had a blast!!! There was a great line-up of guests. I have some pics below, I took some with both digital and an old-fashioned film version, so more may be coming. Unfortunately there were signs out saying "no posed photos,"  so no candid "hug-shots" with any of the talent. The fans in Phoenix were amazing, and I have no qualms with the Con except maybe that they under-estimated what the turnout would be and needed a bigger venue, especially for some of the panels. BSG 12 Days of Christmas

Ok, so while I should be attending to my children (ala Clara on The Guild), instead I was lost in thought re-writing the 12 days of Christmas with a Battlestar Galactica Theme.  It started out as the Sci-fi 12 days of Christmas, but BSG lends itself to the numbers so well it just took over.  I promise future posts will deviate from BSG and explore other realms of Sci-Fi.  By the way, if anyone reposts this anywhere for any reason, please credit me.  Thanks.  Enjoy:

FedconUSA Dallas

The closure of the FedconUSA boards has forced me out into the open to post here.  I was "Jodi" on those boards (one of my posts from that board can be found in meshels June 13 post here).  I want to say that I was horrified at how Aaron Douglas and the rest of the talent was treated by Fedcon.  Aaron was kind enough to offer so much to them and us ahead of time by arranging to have "Revelations" screened at its regular showtime there at the con.  He was a class act from before the "known" problems until after the sh*t hit the fan.  I am glad that his posts were preserved here as the Fedcon boards are gone.  The dissapointment and lies that the fans and talent were subjected to is beyond anything I would have considered possible. If anyone wants to know more, and believe me I have kept track and know plenty by now about all the lies and mismangement, feel free to contact me.  I was crushed when it was apparent Aaron Douglas and James Callis would not be coming.  I hope that I can see Aaron at a con in the future.  I want to offer Aaron my personal apology as a fan for even showing up at the Con after the way they treated him, my only excuse was that they (and my hotel) already had my money, money I doubt I will ever see again.
